New Public Relations Director for PRSSA April 16, 2008

Ms. Vashti Joseph Cruz, a student of the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, has been named the new Public Relations Director of the Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association.  Joseph will oversee communications to the media, the press, the membership and the public and assist the President on all matters concerning the public relations of the organization. 

Joseph was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on November 21, 1987.  She attended Colegio La Piedad in Carolina, Puerto Rico and graduated with honors in 2005.  Later, she enrolled in the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.  She expects her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies in 2008.    

While an undergraduate, Joseph has been a staff writer for the University of Dayton’s Flyer News, a member of the university’s Photography Club, a research assistant for the university’s Department of Psychology, a member of the student judicial boards and a consultant for student judicial policy.  Joseph also participated in the Institute for Shipboard Education’s Semester at Sea program during the fall of 2007, visiting numerous foreign countries and performing volunteer charity work in Thailand, India and Egypt.

Joseph currently intends to pursue graduate studies and acquire a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology.
